About the project
Venezuela New Central Turbine Power Plant emergency station phase 1, located at Venezuela’s largest coast, Puerto Cabello, 220km off the capital of Venezuela, Caracas. Project’s total installed capacity is 4 x 193.2MW. 4 sets of Siemens SGT6-5000F dual-fuel single-cycle gas turbine generator set. This is the first collaboration power plant project between Venezuela and China. First set ignited in 2013. Completed and took-over in May 2014.
What we provided
- Customised total solution for blackstart, including calculations, design, and selective components and machinery.
- 5 Mitsubishi Engine and Leroy-Somer alternator. Genset assembled in United Kingdom.
- On-site service and training.
The Challenge
- To satisfy the demand of instant load of the gas turbine
- High installation requirements for outdoor installation, low noise penetration, modular container with good heat dispersion, and high humidity.
Our Solutions
Provided 5 sets of 1800KW module 40ft HQ standard container, including control panels and switch gears. Noise level of 85dB(A) within 1 meter. All 5 sets are specifically created for the New Central 772MW Gas Turbine Power Plant, from Siemen’s unique specification to the strict Design Institute certifications. The placements of all 5 sets are outdoor and must be weather proof to the local weather climate and high humidity in Puerto Cabello.
All 5 sets are parallel synchronised and directly connected to the grid. The combined total of the five 1800KW provides the necessary blackstart system for the whole plant, as well as back-up and emergency power.
